According to Motor Age, winning shops were chosen by a panel of qualified judges based on originality, practical business sense and creativity. To help determine the winners, photographs and essays were submitted by each repair shop describing the history of their business and information on merchandising, customer service and community service practices.
“We had some outstanding shops apply for this contest,” said the Motor Age editor-in-chief. “The level of sophistication and expertise that they demonstrated is a testimony to the professionalism that is abundant in the entire U.S. motor vehicle repair industry.”
