Watch where you put those sandbags!

Several times in the past couple of months we have opened the trunk of a customer's car to perform a service and found sandbags or tubes of sand strategically placed in the trunk to help add traction in the snow. The only problem is the cars have all been front wheel drive vehicles! That weight in the trunk is not only causing extra gas consumption, but it is actually DECREASING traction at the front tires. There may be some benefit to having some sand to throw on the snow to give a little extra traction, but if you have sand bags in the trunk of your front wheel or 4 wheel drive car, do yourself a favor and take them out as soon as possible.
